Guest sparkplug Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Hi all,Have been pointed in the direction of this Forum from another one that I use. I hope someone here can help. I have a Galaxy 1997 1.9 Tdi. It has high mileage but runs very smoothly. No strange noises, doesn't burn oil and generally has been problem free....until now! When you accelerate away up through all the gears it is fine - no problems at all. However, when you ease off the accelerator to slow a little and then accelerate again, it judders. It makes no noises when it does this but you do need to change down a gear and then accelerate again to get it to stop - sometimes it does it again, immediately. We have been told by a Ford Garage (in France) that the gearbox is going but they were also trying to sell us a new car!!! Any ideas anyone? Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Sounds more like a faulty CV joint to me. They use a tripod type on the inside end of the drive-shaft and they do funny things when they are failing. Quote
johnb80 Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 I'd agree 100% with that, you could try lubing them and see if the problem goes away. Quote
